Strategies for Leadership Success

…how to be the leader your team needs right now

Is your team in Performance Mode?

The past two years have challenged our leadership paradigms.  Everything we thought we knew has been put to the test and what we knew hasn’t always been enough.  If you’re a leader in an organisation, there might have been times when you felt as though you were ‘making it up as you went along’ and experienced some doubt about your plans and approaches.

Join us for this day-long event and you will:

  • Learn about our new Leadership Framework and how it can be useful to you
  • Reflect on your experiences of leadership
  • Identify the key elements of your leadership style
  • Discover how to keep your team (and yourself) in performance mode
  • Get the keys to long-term success as a leader

Why is Leadership important now?

At Brilliant Minds we’ve been looking closely at the challenges to managers and executives raised by the pandemic.  Established leadership practices have faltered, not just because of the upheaval to working conditions but also due to the increasing threat to mental health.

We’ve been working on how to provide business leaders with new ways of supporting their people and delivering great results.  It’s not so much about changing your style as just stopping one or two activities and replacing them with better habits.  It’s also about taking care of your own wellbeing so it doesn’t become a problem.

As a result of our conversations with leaders in businesses both large and small, we’ve created a new leadership framework and we’re ready to share it with you!

There are three key elements to our new leadership framework…

  • The Brilliant Minds Leadership Model – shows what the best leaders do
  • The SCARF Model – highlights what people need from their leaders
  • Performance Mode – the mindset you create in your team using insights from the two models

The Brilliant Minds Leadership Model

The Brilliant Minds Leadership Model was developed through a research project on the behaviours of leaders whom people were motivated to follow.  It focused on a voluntary organisation, where it was easy to see who were the most successful leaders.  For the good leaders, people showed up to meetings, got involved in projects and took on responsibility.  For the poor leaders, they stayed at home and didn’t get involved.

We have translated this model very successfully into the world of business.  It sheds light on what to do, rather than on how to be.  The model enables leaders to reflect on their style of leadership and when to shift the balance between different kinds of activity as a leader, in order to respond to shifting circumstances.  Like a global pandemic.  Or a war. Or a complete disruption of your market.

The SCARF Model

The SCARF model was developed by David Rock of the NeuroLeadership Institute.  This model maps the social concerns that drive behaviour and gives us insight into the sources of workplace stress and strategies to improve wellbeing.  Drawing on leading edge neuroscience, it provides a scientific backdrop for a highly accessible model of motivation. Looking at this model, it’s easy to see what people most need from their leaders.

There is more on the SCARF model on the blog…

Performance Mode

Performance Mode is the mindset you create when you apply both models. Putting these two models together has enabled us to create a framework for leadership that is based on good solid research and at the same time fits with the intuitive sense many leaders have gained over years of experience.  Our combined model recognises that leadership involves multiple skills and gives insight on how to develop those key skills and how to maintain Performance Mode for you and your team.

The programme includes…

  • What is leadership and why is it important?
  • The Brilliant Minds Leadership Model and the single most important thing to do if you want to be a better leader
  • The SCARF model and the implications for all managers and executives – it all comes down to one key responsibility
  • The new Leadership Framework that brings together these two models to create a practical approach to leading your team in Performance Mode
  • How to take stock of your own leadership style
  • How to add new skills to your repertoire that will ensure your success as a leader
