Not heard of the LAB Profile before? You’re not alone

Developed by Rodger Bailey and championed for many years by Shelle Rose Charvet, the LAB Profile is a really powerful tool for understanding and influencing people, for recruitment and team development, for culture change programmes and a host of other applications.

There are now three of us at Brilliant Minds who are certified by Shelle Rose Charvet as LAB Profile Trainers and Consultants. That’s me, Neil Harris and Maria Musgrove-Wethey. We all love the LAB Profile, and we want to show you why we love it.

  • It's fast -  a profile can take as little as 10 minutes to complete (watch the video below)
  • It's flexible - you don't have to do the whole profile every time, you can focus on specific traits
  • It's free - once you've been trained to use the profile there is no 'per head' cost

Watch the video below to see me completing a LAB profile and reflecting back what I’ve learned...

So you can see that the LAB Profile can be very quick to use and doesn’t bore the candidate to tears before they’ve had a chance to show you who they really are.

It also has the advantage that you can ask the questions completely conversationally and find out lots about a person as part of an everyday conversation if a ‘formal’ profile isn’t on the agenda.

You don’t even have to ask ALL the questions

Sometimes just one or two of the questions will be enough for you to find out what you need to know to:

  • influence a key player
  • decide between two comparable candidates for a job or
  • predict whether someone will enjoy a particular project

The other big advantage of the LAB Profile is that it takes account of the fact that people change. They can act ‘out of character’ or suddenly surprise you. With the information gained from a LAB Profile you can make sense of what’s going on and work out how to respond to it even when people behave in uncharacteristic ways.
